That's great advice, for sure - and often overlooked. I did a show for a resteraunt opening last week, and at the end, I went to talk to the owner to get paid, and he said "I thought this was gratis?"
He was dead serious! he thought that because he threw me alot of work in his catering company, that I would just do this little 3 hr "opening" for free. (Silly, silly man)
I didn't require a contract from him becasue of time restraints and a long standing relationship ... but it just Shows to Go ya !
(He paid up, of course when I explained that I took OFF from my Trenton date to accomodate him) Some people just don't get it. I remember working some rooms in the 70's for months at a time, and at the end of the week, EVERY week the owner would say "So, how much do I owe you?" .... Like it would change !!!! ( Goofy, huh
)
Listen to your cousin Scotty ... it's all about details !
